I hate this place. I keep trying to give it another shot, each week, but the atmosphere has got to be the worst part about it. Their music is always super loud and nothing about it screams nice and calm “coffee shop”. They also take forever to get your order and you’re often left standing around for an extra 5-7 minutes.

The tall curly hair guy was rude for no reason when I asked him to fill up my matcha all the way. In an accusatory way, as if I had done it on purpose, he said he didn’t appreciate me asking them to add half and half after ringing up the order (in reality, I originally forgot and would've paid whatever extra amount he said it was, why be nasty about it and assume bad faith?). Then he said I should have ordered it with ice if I wanted the whole cup to have liquid … what? He didn’t tell me that originally when I asked for no ice. I always ask for no ice here and they fill it normally. The matcha also tasted weirdly watery so I tossed it anyway. Waste of $7. I come here every day for drinks so this was pretty disappointing, will make me rethink coming here.
PS I've worked in food service so I know it's a tough job. I'm not asking for perfect service with a smile, just service that's reasonable and doesn't make me feel like I've committed a felony by asking for creamer.

Used to come here when this spot was previously Espresso Royale, and I was excited to give M-36 a try for the first time. The Coffee menu is fine, and Barista’s were friendly-HOWEVER my biggest complaint is the music. It’s dreadful, and It’s consistently been full a lot of slurs and cursing ( as in- I wouldn’t listen to this around my mom so why would you think it’s appropriate to play it in a public cafe?). Feels weird and off-putting.
The cafe is packed with students, but also families and elderly patrons, and I’m seriously so confused by the music choice. As a former barista who’s worked years in specialty coffee, i’m getting second hand embarrassment.
Maybe pick something a little more welcoming and cafe friendly?

I am by no means a coffee expert but I got a latte and the espresso tasted burnt/chemical-like. Service was amazing though, and the baked goods were pretty tasty. However, for the price I paid I would like to get coffee that doesn’t taste so bad

Great coffe. Really like the Mocha. My wife really liked her Caramel Cold Brew. The interior is pretty cool and comfortable with a basement lounge area as well.
