This place made me realize getting a haircut can be a genuinely fun and pleasant experience. Plus they always absolutely kill it with getting the cut just right for you! And the hairstylists are all super welcoming. I’m not in the Ann Arbor area anymore and I still wouldn’t go anywhere else for anything hair-related :)

I had a great experience with Mia. I got 12 inches taken off and didn't know what I wanted done after that. She knew exactly what to do when my hair started doing the thing I don't like and she let me know that if I wanted any changes done, I could come in later in the week for a touch up for no extra charge. Also, Orbit does hair donations, i.e. you can get 12 inches of hair cut off and they will donate it to Wigs for Kids for you.

I tried to cut my kids hair, and I didnt do a very good job. Jennie came to the rescue on short notice and saved her! Thank you so much!

Monserrat dyed my hair a color I didn’t ask for then gaslit me when I asked about how to potentially fix it. I'm absolutely kicking myself now for not diving deeper into their reviews on google as I now see most of the terrible experiences here have also been tied back to Monserrat. In September, I set up time with Monserrat for a color consultation. During this consultation, I was very open with my stylist and let them know that typically I just put highlights in my dirty blonde hair and was thinking of doing that or something a little different. During this time I expressed that I was interested in this particular photo (linked below) but was very nervous about the switch from full blonde to slightly redheaded. During this consultation we talked in depth about my concerns about how the pictured hair would look on me and Monserrat assured me that the reddish color would look good. Trusting her experience, I booked a color appointment. During the coloring appointment, we recapped what I wanted, and again, looked over this same (and only) photo together. From there we continued, she showed me two colors of dye that were going to go in my hair and asked me if I liked them. I said I was concerned about it being too orange, and she assured me there would be dimension to the hair with blonde peeking through and that the dye would fade out quickly, leaving me similar to the color I wanted. Since we had discussed this same photo for so long, over two whole appointments now, I trusted her expertise on how those dyes would actually look on my hair. Unfortunately, what I got was not what I had hoped for. I ended up with bright red hair. I decided to give it time and see how much it would fade with washing, because again, she and I had now been looking at the same photo for two whole appointments. After a week of washing and using clarifying shampoo, and assuring my friends that “oh my hairstylist said it would fade to what I wanted” it was clear that my hair would not fade to anywhere near the picture. I reached out to the stylist to voice my concerns over Instagram, and instead was met with full gaslighting through Instagram and phone call. Instead of being willing to help get my hair to a place I was happy with, she lied, and claimed that I showed her another photo. When I let her know that no, this was definitely the only photo I had ever shown her, she then doubled down on her lie and insisted that her assistant Anna also said I showed another photo. (Anna was not there for our conversation about color and was only called in when it was time to wash my hair). I again let her know that that was the only photo I had shown and to prove myself, sent her screenshots of text conversations I had had with friends, all dated and timestamped to when I was sitting in her chair where I’m sharing that same photo and telling my friends and family that was what I was doing to my hair. I also went through all my dated screenshots and showed that that was the only photo of hair I had ever screenshot in the last 3 months, and in fact I had taken the screenshot during our first consultation appointment together. Despite the attempted gaslighting, I know 1000% this was the photo that was shown every single time to Monserrat. After being denied help, gaslit, and lied to, I was obviously upset and in tears getting nowhere with Monserrat. My partner was also upset on my behalf, likely due to my crying, and called the salon upset, explained the situation, and asked to speak to a manager. When they refused and instead told them that I would have to continue to speak to Monserrat directly, they said ‘that’s (swear) ridiculous.” They hung up on them and claimed they cussed them out. After that Orbit refunded me for the terrible hair dye but I’m now left paying hundreds of dollars to fix my hair. My blonde hair isn’t redeemable, and the natural curl I’ve worked years to get healthy is now ruined. This overall experience with Orbit was terrible, and the fact that it's so well documented yet they still lie, is mind blowing to me.

I could never see anyone except Monserrat ever again now because she has not just changed my hair but my confidence. If you want to look and feel good, go see her! Not to mention, everyone else at Orbit is absolutely kind and welcoming! Won't go anywhere else in Ann Arbor!
